Proteins and ribonucleic acids (RNA) are the main players in the cell’s metabolism. However, the precise role of most proteins and RNAs is still unknown, and its determination using experimental means can be costly. In the post-genomic era—with the availability of complete genomes and our ability to monitor the level of expression of thousands of genes in a single experiment—the quick determination and analysis of the structure of proteins and RNAs is essential. Our research team focuses on the analysis and integration of structural data, and on the development of computational methods that accelerate the determination and modeling of the three-dimensional and active structure, as well as the function of proteins and RNAs.
