Orr-WeaverDr. Terry L. Orr-Weaver is a Member of the Whitehead Institute, and a professor of biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). She came to Whitehead Institute and MIT in 1987, and held the Latham Family Career Development Chair from 1991 to 1994. She has served as chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and president of the Genetics Society of America.

In 2006, she was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology and a member of the National Academy of Sciences. In 2007, she was appointed an American Cancer Society Research Professor. In 2008, she was elected president of the National Drosophila Board and in 2010, a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. In 2013, she was awarded the FASEB Excellence in Science award.

She has served on scientific advisory boards for the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, the Radcliffe Institute, Princeton University Dept. of Molecular Biology, and Boston’s Childrens Hospital
